Prevent Wrinkles With Anti Aging Vitamins
Wrinkles are a product of sun damage, free radical damage and gravity. Most of the wrinkle creams on the market do not deliver the results they promise because they can't penetrate the skin deeply enough to make a difference. In reality, using a few key vitamins will produce better results than any wrinkle cream for a fraction of the price. Before spending hundreds of dollars on anti-aging products, try some of the vitamins below in conjunction with a good sunblock and products that are clinically proven to be a wrinkle cure (i.e. Retin-A and glycolic acid --see Resources for link to articles on these topics).
Instructions
1. Take selenium. Selenium is an anti-oxidant which prevents aging by protecting the body from free radicals. In animal studies, selenium has been associated with reduced incidence of skin cancer. Selenium also slows down the process of aging and preserves soft, youthful skin texture. Human studies are needed, but the animal studies are convincing and it won't hurt to include selenium in both your diet and nutritional supplements. Food based sources of selenium include garlic, whole grains, seafood such as tuna and eggs with brazil nuts having the highest concentration of selenium. For optimal anti-aging results, a nutritional supplement should be taken as selenium content of foods can vary wildly.
2. Use vitamin E both topically and internally. Vitamin E is one of the more important anti-aging anti-oxidants. Studies have found that low levels of vitamin E in skin are associated with an increased amount of wrinkling. Apply topically by breaking a liquid vitamin E capsule and applying to the face at night. Follow with a supplement of 400 mg to repair as well as prevent photodamage and make skin smooth and supple. Vit
3. Take Vitamin C. Vitamin C is the most abundant anti-oxidant found in the skin and is pivotal to looking young. Unfortunately, exposure to UV rays and pollution can decrease the amount of vitamin C in the skin by up to 55% making supplementation essential. Eat lots of citrus fruits and green vegetable such as broccoli or spinach. In addition, supplement with a chewable vitamin C tablet. Topical application of vitamin C is an effective way to repair existing sun damage and prevent further aging of the skin, however, it is difficult to find a quality vitamin C serum because vitamin C is rendered inactive upon contact with air. Because vitamin C is so unstable, consider saving your money and making your own vitamin C serum (see Resources for a link to instructions).
Tips Warnings
Be consistent and plan for the long haul. These vitamins will have to be taken on a regular basis for years to produce optimal results.
Use a good UVA/UVB sunscreen --See Resources to an article about select a good sunscreen.
Expensive wrinkle creams are only good at removing money from your wallet, they do almost nothing for wrinkles. The best anti aging approach is to take the vitamins above combined with Retin-A, glycolic acid, and a good sunblock.
